    Personal Experience

    Antonia accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ practice. Recent highlights include:

    • Munícipio de Mariana and Ors v BHP Group Plc and BHP Group Ltd [2023] EWHC 1134 (TCC) (ongoing) – acting for over 700,000 claimants in proceedings against BHP in the Technology and Construction Court, related to the collapse of the Fundão Dam at the Germano mining complex in November 2015, considered the worst environmental disaster in Brazilian history (led by Alain Choo-Choy KC and Andrew Fulton KC).
    • Jockey Club Racecources Limited v Persons Unknown [2024] EWHC 1786 (Ch) – obtained a five-year injunction against Persons Unknown to prohibit acts of trespass by unknown protesters at the Epsom Racecourse (led by Alan Maclean KC).
    • Intervened on behalf of a number of civil society organisations supported by the Global Strategic Litigation Council Request, including in relation to a request for an advisory opinion from the Inter-American Court of Human Rights on matters involving climate displacement (2024, led by Ali Al-Karim), and in the Constitutional Court of Colombia and Mexican Supreme Court in relation to those countries’ immigration or detention policies under international law (2023, led by Raza Husain KC).

    Antonia was seconded to the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office for two and a half months in 2023, working with the Sanctions and Asia Pacific Team primarily on challenges to sanctions desginations and matters of licencing.

    Prior to coming to the Bar, Antonia worked as a video journalist for Reuters in Brazil and Colombia, covering the 2016 Colombian peace process (deployed to a FARC rebel camp), corruption scandals, the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games. Antonia also worked as a Senior Analyst for Control Risks, advising investors on ESG considerations and political, security and social developments across Latin America. Antonia chaired and featured in high-profile discussions on regional politics and business, including alongside then Colombian President, Iván Duque.

    Antonia is a co-creator of The Advocacy Podcast.
